DCSS is Seeking a Chief School Financial Officer

After many years serving the students and community of Demopolis, Ms. Evelyn James is retiring. The Demopolis City Board of Education is seeking a Chief School Financial Officer who will administer the business affairs of the school system in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available and to be responsible for a financial management system that reflects the financial condition of the local board of education on a timely and accurate basis.

Students Eligible for Free Lunch are Eligible for Free Home Internet

Governor Kay Ivey has committed $100 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security
(CARES) Act funding to deliver free internet access to eligible K-12 students in their homes this fall.
The State of Alabama is using the funds to purchase internet service for low-income households
with K-12 students so students can participate in distance learning. This service is being
administered through the Alabama Broadband Connectivity for Students Program.

December 11th is the Notification Deadline for DCSS Virtual Students to Transition Back to On-Campus Learning

The Demopolis City School System is opening the second window for virtual students to transition back to on-campus learning. Parents who are interested in this transition must complete the Re-entry form and submit it to the applicable school(s) by Friday, December 11th, 2020 at 3:00 PM. Re-entry forms can be located at https://www.dcsedu.com/ under Latest News, at any school, or at the Board of Education.

DCSS to Partner with U.S.D.A. and Baylor University for Free Student Meals in June

Demopolis City School System still wants to provide food and nutrition to our students even during this time while school is closed, so we’re announcing a new program that will deliver meals at your doorstep for free. This program is called Meals-to-You, and it is a partnership between our district, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Baylor University. Your student(s) enrolled in the Demopolis City School System are eligible to participate in the program.

All you have to do is fill out an online sign-up form and submit it as soon as possible! Access the online form by clicking this link: https://mealstoyou.org/emergency-meals-to-you-application/. Boxes will be provided on a first come, first served basis, so sign up online today! Let Meals-to-You take away the stress of buying extra groceries during this time. Alabama 4-H is planning a series of events for students ages 9-18 at Foscue Park in Demopolis. This is a great opportunity to learn more about outdoors and what the Demopolis area has to offer our youth.
