BOE Declares Emergency for Restroom Repairs at U.S. Jones Elementary

In a called meeting on November 4th, the Demopolis City School System Board of Education declared an emergency on restroom repairs at U.S. Jones Elementary. Corroded and collapsed cast iron pipes under the third grade wing have resulted in plumbing concerns.  By declaring an emergency, the Board is able to expedite approval of the plans from the Alabama Building Commission and award a contractor to fix the concern with minimal delays. Once construction begins, the school system is optimistic that the project will be completed in 60 to 90 days. In the interim, students are being rerouted to other restrooms within the school campus.
