Education and Training Class

DHS Education and Training class, a CTE pathway, took a walking field trip today to research the importance of play after spending time studying developmental theories to understand the “whole” child. Students from the class learned to roller skate, jumped rope, and just played. One area of focus was for them to imagine being a child trying to learn something new. How much patience did it take to learn to stand on roller skates if you had never done that before? What about the child in the classroom seeing a quadratic equation for the first time? It takes patience, encouragement, and lots of reinforcement. Another question they were asked was how do these activities help a child’s development physically, cognitively, and morally? Thank you Fairhaven Baptist Church for the use of the facilities and equipment to research the importance of play! It was a fun day of learning! #playallday #noscreens #positivedevelopment #AlabamaAchieves #CTE #educationandtraining #workbasedlearning
