February Board Meeting Highlights

Highlights from the February Board meeting included recognitions of academic successes as well as sports and a little singing. DCS has shown that excellence is what we strive for in everything we do. Superintendent Tony Willis recognized three elementary teachers for showing the highest growth in the first semester for grades 1-3. Molly Malone, first grade; Paige Gandy, second grade; and Amanda Powell, third grade were recognized for the highest growth in their students. Ashton Moorer, DHS senior was recognized for receiving the Tre Jones Memorial Scholarship from the Marengo Sports Hall of Fame. Charlie Grace Card was also present and recognized for being selected for the WTOK All Scholastic Sports Team. A special performance leading up to the DHS Tiger Arts Guild’s Cinderella play was enjoyed by all. The cast of Cinderella gave the board a preview of what will be a spectacular performance!  The performances will begin February 29 and will continue through March 3.

Also on the agenda were the approvals of the financial report, personnel report, dual enrollment agreements with Snead College and The University of Alabama and a second reading of the dual enrollment policy revision. The board approved the first reading of a Library Media Selection policy as a proactive step for managing selections and revisions of library content in each school. They also approved a bid for Southern Light, LLC for WAN.  Three consent items were presented and approved,  a field trip for DHS HOSA for Montgomery for a leadership convention and a field trip to Europe for DHS in March of 2025.  The board also approved a hold harmless request for the use of the DHS Auditorium.
