What a fantastic start to the 2025-2026 school year!
Our returning faculty and staff kicked off Inservice with a warm welcome from Superintendent Dr. Adam Pugh, who set the tone for a year full of purpose and positivity. He kicked things off with a light-hearted clip featuring one of Jerry Clower’s most beloved stories—“Knock Him Out, John!”—about a late-night coon hunt gone wrong. The tale, full of humor and heart, reminded us of the power of quick thinking, courage under pressure, and the need for comic relief in the world of education.
We were thrilled to welcome special guest speaker Lisa Whelchel—best known as “Blair” from The Facts of Life—who delivered an inspiring message about the importance of workplace friendships and the impact of modeling positive relationships for the students we serve every day at DCS. Her words energized and encouraged us all.
The celebration continued as we honored excellence within our DCS family. Congratulations to Stacy Dawson, recipient of the Hugh Lloyd Excellence in Education Award, presented by the Demopolis City Schools Foundation! And a huge shoutout to Westside Elementary for earning the coveted SchoolFest fundraising award—a job well done!
Let’s keep the momentum going, the energy high, and the mission strong as we begin another incredible year in Demopolis City Schools!
