Demopolis City Schools celebrated recognition, service, and gratitude at tonight’s board meeting, highlighted by a special proclamation and multiple honors. The evening underscored the district’s commitment to excellence in teaching and student opportunities.
Career & Technical Education month
Mayor Woody Collins issued a proclamation recognizing February as Career and Technical Education Month, emphasizing the importance of CTE pathways for Demopolis students and the local workforce. This recognition affirms the district’s focus on preparing students for high-skill, high-demand careers through robust CTE offerings.
Teachers of the Year
Two outstanding educators were honored as District Teachers of the Year.
Connie Boutwell was named District Secondary Teacher of the Year, reflecting her leadership in the classroom and impact on Demopolis High School students.
Lane Brayden “Burbage” Colyar was announced as District Elementary Teacher of the Year, recognizing dedicated service to Demopolis’ youngest learners.
Board Appreciation
January is Board Appreciation Month, and Demopolis City Schools took time to thank its board members for their service and advocacy. Each board member was presented with a gift from one of the schools or central office as a token of appreciation for their continued leadership and support of students, staff, and schools.
