The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science will host free ACT prep sessions for sophomores and juniors from around the state. Classes serving distant students will be hosted online, while those for local students will take place on the ASMS campus in Mobile. Sessions will begin in late February and end in March. Preference is given to applicants who lack access to other prep programs and have not yet achieved an ACT composite score of 24 or higher. Parents and students can learn more about the program by viewing this news story:
https://www.fox10tv.com/2025/12/15/act-like-dragon-program-helps-students-prepare-test/

If you know of any Alabama sophomores or juniors who would benefit from program participation, please share the following sign-up link with them:

These classes are offered at no cost to Alabama residents. The ACT exam, which most Alabama juniors will take for free at their schools, is a critical component of the college admissions process. A higher ACT score can result in better college admissions and scholarship outcomes.

The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science is a residential STEM high school located in Mobile, Alabama. Since 1989, it has enrolled hardworking, motivated students from all 67 counties, giving them access to over 200 unique college-level classes. Tuition, room, and board are free at ASMS. Learn more about ASMS at www.asms.net.

Through this ACT prep program, ASMS hopes to serve the state. Seats are limited, though, so applicants should apply before the 1/20 deadline.

Parents, please fill out this mid-year parent survey. This survey will be compared to the survey results from the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.  The results of the surveys will be used so we will know what practices should continue and what practices need modifications.

ATTENTION DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENTS:
Off Campus Dual Enrollment Policy for Students
1. You must return a permission form signed by your parents in order to leave campus.
2. If you have 3 unexcused tardies returning to a DHS class or miss DHS classes without a written excuse (see DCS Attendance Manual: students are allowed five (5) parent excuses per school year), you will be required to return to DHS campus all day for the remainder of the semester.
3. If you are FAILING a dual enrollment course or FALLING BEHIND in a dual enrollment course, you will be required to return to DHS campus all day.
We have dual enrollment classes here on campus for all 7 periods, so placing students in a classroom during the day is not a problem.
