Demopolis High School is pleased to introduce Interim Head Football Coach Rickey Woods. Coach Woods has an impressive record with 42 years coaching experience, 33 as a head coach . His record as head coach at the high school level spanning 28 years, is 300-71. He spent five years at the community college level with a record of 35-13 and at the junior college level he took the teams to two North State championships and were the 2012 Brazos Valley Bowl Champs in College Station , Texas. As a high school coach he led his teams in the following successes: 8 state championships and 3 state runner ups as head coach State Champs: 1997 and 2001 at Ackerman ,Ms 2003,2004, 2005,and 2006 at South Panola, Ms 2014 at Trenton Peabody, Tenn 2015 at Starkville,Ms State Runner up: 1996 and 2000 at Ackerman, Ms 2002 at South Panola, Ms Recognitions include: 2004 EA Sports National High School Football Coach of the Year Clarion-ledger State of Mississippi Coach of the Decade (2000-2010) 2004 Schutts South West Regional National Coach of Year Nominated National Coach of the year by the state in 2017. Mississippi state Coach of Year numerous times. 2014 Tennessee State Coach of the Year Inducted into the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame in 2016. On a personal note, Coach Woods is married to Susan Woods for 46 years. Susan retired from teaching high school math after 41 years. They have two sons. Stan (Seetala) who is a dentist in Hernando, MS and Thomas (Elizabeth) who is a pharmacist is Ackerman, MS . They have three grandchildren that are the joys of their lives. Demopolis City Schools is so excited to welcome Coach Woods to the Tiger family!

DHS faculty and staff welcomed Principal Frederick Franklin and wife Carla on his first official day. We are excited to begin this new chapter for our students! Go Tigers!




Honors English 9 Summer Reading Assignment: Cyrano de Bergerac. Books and assignments are ready to be checked out at DHS main office. The assignments must be completed before the first day of school.


Demopolis City Schools is proud to announce that Mr. Frederick Franklin has been selected as the new principal of Demopolis High School!
Mr. Franklin brings a wealth of experience in education and leadership, having served in various roles over the past 14 years, including Principal and Assistant Principal at Saks High School, Alternative School teacher, Collaborative Special Education teacher, Guidance Counselor, English Language Arts teacher, and Health and Physical Education teacher.
In addition to his educational experience, Mr. Franklin also brings a distinguished military background, having served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years.
He earned his bachelorās degree in social work from Delta State University, followed by a masterās degree in social work from the University of Alabama, a masterās in education from Jacksonville State University, and a degree in instructional leadership from the University of West Alabama.
With a strong commitment to increasing student academic performance and strengthening social skills, Mr. Franklin is prepared to lead Demopolis High School into an exciting new chapter.
