Mrs. Boutwell, Mr. Holloway, and Mr. Duran's classes take a trip to tour the Alabama State Capitol and Alabama Supreme Court. They got an inside look at where government officials of the State of Alabama work to pass and interpret laws, and had a fun time looking at places that were instrumental in the shaping of Alabama.

Mrs. Pipkins’s Honors English 9 and AP Lang classes analyzed the evidence from a crime scene recreated from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. They had to investigate the scene, study the evidence, and write the police report utilizing a police incident report. This is a cross curricular activity which involves workplace documents, something they must know for ACT Workkeys.

Mrs. Gandy's Computer Science Python coding classes embarked on a thrilling journey to the Mercedes-Benz facility in Vance, Alabama. This trip was organized by Brandi Dannelly, our Career Coach at Demopolis High School. Students were able to dive deep into the world of automotive technology, with a special focus on electric cars and programming, as well as the fascinating integration of robotics within the facility. Our students were captivated as they observed the production process of Mercedes vehicles, gaining valuable insights into the complexities of electric car technology and the vital role of coding in their functionality. But that's not all! The tour also shed light on exciting internship opportunities available for our students, providing them with a glimpse into potential career pathways in the automotive industry. This industry tour was a perfect way to celebrate Career Tech Month, highlighting the intersection of technology and industry while reinforcing the relevance of coding skills in real-world applications. Huge thanks to Brandy Snipes, the Technical Program Management Specialist at Mercedes, as well as our fabulous tour guides for orchestrating this enriching experience and opening their doors to our students!
