It’s fraction February at USJ and all of our 4th and 5th grade math teachers were observed during their small group time. The students were so engaged receiving Focused Math during tier 2.

Mrs. Helms' class, with the help from Ms. Hughes' gifted students, participated in a "mystery meeting" zoom with a class from another state. They had to guess where those students were located based on clues. They also gave the other class clues about Demopolis!

Mrs. Brown's math classes used manipulatives to learn about equivalent fractions! #amsti4all #fractionfebruary

Happy National Counselors Week to Mrs. Bowden! Thanks for all you do for students and staff!

Fourth grader student, A'myrah T. wrote her own chapter book titled "The Little Artist!" Great job!

Mrs. Helms' science class had an exciting science lesson on the states of matter. Student teachers from UWA taught the lesson!

USJ would like to thank the Demopolis Kiwanis Club for their generous donation and sponsorship of our Book Blast event. This is an exciting reading initiative that we will be kicking off tomorrow that will help students build their home libraries and get new books into the hands of ALL students. Pictured are Kiwanis club representatives Mrs. Steen and Mrs. Weeks presenting a check to Mrs. Windham and Principal Shipman.
If you have a business or club that would like to donate, please contact USJ and be a part of #thedemopolisdifference

The USJ Beta club will attend the state Beta convention in February. This year's National Beta State service project is collecting items for the Ronald McDonal House. Please see the flier for items needed.
We will collect items from now until we go to convention on February 12th.

Please note these important dates for 2nd semester!

We have some exciting news to share. Our Beta club members Austin Rice, William Michael Coplin , Rhett Windham and Emmalynn Washburn took an online test yesterday in hopes to compete in the Quiz Bowl Competition at the Beta Convention. We would like to congratulate them because they placed in the top 8 of all the schools that competed which means they will be able to compete in person at the State BETA convention in February.

TGIF shout-outs!! Good job guys!
