There is currently a water leak in the main building at Demopolis Middle School. As a result, sack lunches will be served today.
Parents who would like to bring lunch for their student may do so. Lunches do not have to be in a separate container if they are being delivered from a local restaurant. Please make sure your child’s name is clearly written on the bag or container.
A table will be set up in the front office for lunch drop-offs.
Restrooms and running water are available in the other buildings. All other normal school operations will continue as scheduled.

There will be no students on campuses Friday.

Alabama’s RAISE (Renewing Alabama’s Investment in Student Excellence) Act, signed into law on May 5, 2025, modernizes the state’s school funding formula by providing additional funding based on students’ individual needs.
The RAISE Act provided $166 million in additional funding for the 2025–2026 school year and will provide at least $549 million over three years. These funds can support resources such as reading intervention, academic support, after-school and summer programs, and other initiatives designed to improve student success.
As part of the RAISE Act, the State is seeking family feedback to help identify opportunities to reduce administrative burdens, improve efficiency, and better support our schools and students.

The Demopolis City Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 5:15 p.m. at the Central Office in Demopolis, Alabama.

One simple step can make a big difference in keeping your child’s attendance records up to date: submit a written excuse whenever your child is absent, arrives late, or checks out early. Written excuses must be submitted within three days.
The attendance manual includes some changes this year. We encourage all families to review the updated manual by visiting www.dcsedu.com.
Remember, a simple written excuse can help prevent attendance issues and ensure your child’s records are accurate.
