We’re excited to share that students at all four Demopolis City Schools will again receive free breakfast and lunch ( and after school snacks) every school day this year! No applications, no income requirements—just healthy, delicious meals for everyone.
This program ensures every student starts the day ready to learn and stays fueled for success. We’re proud to provide nutritious options that support both learning and well-being.
Menus are located on the DCS website and the DCS app in addition to the individual schools' social media and websites.
Let’s make it a great year—see you in the cafeteria! 🥗✨

Today, the Demopolis Police Department received a series of calls threatening Westside Elementary. The FBI is involved in the investigation, and at this time, we believe the threats were a hoax. At no point was there an intruder on any of our campuses. We will continue working closely with local law enforcement and the FBI to identify the individual responsible.
Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at all campuses tomorrow. We plan to operate on our normal schedule.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Demopolis Police Department, Drug Task Force, local FBI, Fire and Rescue, central office staff, school administrators, school resource officers, and faculty and staff for responding to today’s unplanned lockdown and dismissal with professionalism, calm, and care. Your swift actions and unwavering commitment ensured the safety and support of our students at all four campuses.
We are also incredibly grateful to our parents and guardians for your patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout the dismissal process. Your support makes all the difference.
Together, we kept safety and calm at the forefront.
Again, WE WILL OPERATE ON A NORMAL SCHEDULE TOMORROW , Friday, Aug 8.
Let’s start fresh and have a great year!

Because of a threat that was called in to the Demopolis Police Department, we will dismiss all students at this time. Students will be dismissed one at a time in a slow and orderly fashion. Please note ALL STUDENTS are safe. This is being done out of an abundance of caution.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all children safe.
Please be patient as we conduct this dismissal.

All four campuses of Demopolis City Schools are on a lockdown at this time. This is being done out of an abundance of caution because of a threat situation at one of the schools. All schools and students are safe. We will notify you when the lockdown is lifted.

It is the first day of the 2025-2026 year at Demopolis City Schools, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our students back to campus! From bright smiles to fresh school supplies, the energy at our schools is high! Thank you to the Demopolis Community for coming out bright and early to cheer on our students !

We’re excited to kick off the 2025-2026 school year! The halls are shining, the classrooms are ready, and our teachers are eager to welcome everyone back. Whether you're returning or starting fresh, we’re so glad you’re here.

The hands-on training allowed participants to prepare healthy breakfast and lunch items, as well as create their own healthy spice kits to use in their school cafeterias. Participating school systems included Perry County, Thomasville City Schools, Greene County, Sumter County, and Demopolis City Schools.

Demopolis City Schools remains committed to creating focused, engaging learning environments where students can thrive without unnecessary distractions. In an effort to support this goal, we will continue to use Yondr pouches at both Demopolis Middle School and Demopolis High School. We are also expanding this initiative to include U.S. Jones Elementary (USJ) this year.
By encouraging students to disconnect from their phones, we’re helping them reconnect with their teachers, classmates, and learning in more meaningful ways.
Additionally, DCS will be in full compliance with the newly enacted “Freeing Our Classrooms of Unnecessary Screens for Safety” (FOCUS) Act, also known as House Bill 166, which restricts student use of cell phones and wireless communication devices in public schools across Alabama.
Together, we’re building a better learning environment—one focused on engagement, connection, and success.

We will resume summer office hours Monday, July 7.
