The Alabama State Board of Education has recognized 14 schools and 2 school districts for their strong commitment to Alabama’s K-3 learners, particularly for demonstrating growth in outcome data for proficiency and sufficiency that exceeds the state average. Today, Demopolis City Schools is honored as one of only two districts this year in the state to be named a Science of Reading Spotlight School District. Fall Break is almost here! Friday, October 11, teachers will be on campus for Data Day. Students will NOT report to school Friday. Students will return to school Wednesday, October 16. This is a great time to wash and disinfect backpacks and lunchboxes to keep the germs away! Enjoy this time with your family!

The September Board meeting will be held Monday, September 9 at 5:15 at the Central Office . The 2025 Proposed budget presentation will be held during this meeting and again September 11 @10:00am at the Central Office. You can preview the budget on the DCS website at this time.
September is School Attendance Awareness Month - Stay Connected, Keep Learning!
Chronic absenteeism -18 days or more a year (excused and unexcused) places students at greater academic risk. Schools have the potential to support students’ positive mental health development by helping students engage in school activities, develop caring connections with teachers and other young people, and use appropriate critical thinking skills.
DCS will be closed Sept. 2nd in observance of Labor Day. September 3rd will be a Data Day for Faculty and no school for students. Students will return to school Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024.
