Demopolis Middle School and Demopolis High School were visited today by Mobile's FBI division to discuss online safety with students. Justin Kemple and Joe Thompson talked about the dangers of online chatrooms and interacting with people you don't know through video games and other avenues, along with many other dangers students need to know about. Don't ruin your life and destroy your future was the message today. Future colleges and employers will look at what you post.
Thank you Demopolis PD for hosting this training.
*Parents are invited to attend the session tonight at the Demopolis Police Department Courtroom downtown Demopolis. The program will begin at 6:00p.m.

This week (February 5th-9th) has been proclaimed as Severe Weather Awareness Week by Governor Kay Ivey. Alabama is no stranger to severe weather, and we must stay ever so vigilant not only for our own lives, but the citizens of Alabama.
Today’s focus is on Preparedness and Safety
Don't wait until severe weather is happening to have a plan. Take the time to prepare NOW. Know the difference between a Watch and a Warning and know what to when/if one is issued for your location. Always have more than one way to receive potentially life-saving weather information. Make sure you have fresh batteries in your NOAA Weather Radio, too. Have a plan in place, and know where to take shelter at home, work, church, or any other venue you frequent. Injuries and deaths due to severe weather can be prevented through proper safety and preparedness measures.

Don't forget Monday, Feb. 5 will be a Professional Development Day for faculty. Students should not report to school on 2/5/24.

Look for scoliosis forms coming home soon. Forms will need to be signed in order for a student to be checked. This is very important and a FREE service the school provides. We have also included some information for preventative measures since most students in our system use backpacks. Improper usage could lead to back issues in the future. Check them out and have a conversation with your students about how to properly wear a backpack and to not overfill them.
