I have a few important reminders to share. Please help us spread the word to anyone you know with a child at DMS:
Signature Acknowledgment Form: This form (posted earlier and still available on our page) must be completed by Friday. Hard copies are also available in the front office.
Online Enrollment: Many families have not completed online enrollment. This step is very important to ensure we have accurate contact information. If you are not receiving Thrillshare text messages, it may be because online registration is incomplete or your contact information needs updating.
Title I Compact: As a Title I school, each student must have a school/parent/student compact on file. Your child will receive this form tomorrow, August 21. Please sign it, keep the pink copy, and return the yellow and white copies to your child’s third-period advisory teacher.
Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work to get all beginning-of-the-year paperwork completed and documented.

Be sure to arrive at school and class on time!

DMS After School Tutoring will begin Monday, August 11, 2025. If you would like for your student to participate, they must have a completed form on file. You can complete a paper copy in the front office or submit the form online using the link below:

Today, the Demopolis Police Department received a series of calls threatening Westside Elementary. The FBI is involved in the investigation, and at this time, we believe the threats were a hoax. At no point was there an intruder on any of our campuses. We will continue working closely with local law enforcement and the FBI to identify the individual responsible.
Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at all campuses tomorrow. We plan to operate on our normal schedule.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Demopolis Police Department, Drug Task Force, local FBI, Fire and Rescue, central office staff, school administrators, school resource officers, and faculty and staff for responding to today’s unplanned lockdown and dismissal with professionalism, calm, and care. Your swift actions and unwavering commitment ensured the safety and support of our students at all four campuses.
We are also incredibly grateful to our parents and guardians for your patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout the dismissal process. Your support makes all the difference.
Together, we kept safety and calm at the forefront.
Again, WE WILL OPERATE ON A NORMAL SCHEDULE TOMORROW , Friday, Aug 8.
Let’s start fresh and have a great year!

Because of a threat that was called in to the Demopolis Police Department, we will dismiss all students at this time. Students will be dismissed one at a time in a slow and orderly fashion. Please note ALL STUDENTS are safe. This is being done out of an abundance of caution.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all children safe.
Please be patient as we conduct this dismissal.

All four campuses of Demopolis City Schools are on a lockdown at this time. This is being done out of an abundance of caution because of a threat situation at one of the schools. All schools and students are safe. We will notify you when the lockdown is lifted.

As we gear up for the 2025–2026 school year, we’ll be sharing lots of important updates, so please encourage anyone you know with a student at DMS to follow Demopolis Middle School on Facebook to stay informed.
Today’s update is about snacks and drinks at school:
Snack Machines: Students are welcome to use the snack machines, but snacks must be purchased before school starts each day.
No Outside Fast Food or To-Go Drinks: Students may not bring in fast food or drinks in to-go cups (from restaurants, gas stations, etc.).
Water Bottles Only: This year, cups such as Stanleys and similar containers will not be allowed. Students may bring only clear water bottles or clear plastic bottles with a secure, closable lid.
No Snacking in Hallways: Snacks should not be eaten while walking through the halls, as this creates additional cleanup for our custodial team.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to create a safe, clean, and positive environment for everyone. Let’s make this a great year at DMS!
