Comprensión de "Asegurar el perímetro" y "Bloqueo"
Estimados padres y tutores,
Allene Jones

Understanding "Secure the Perimeter" and "Lockdown"
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to clarify the difference between two important safety protocols: “Secure the Perimeter” and “Lockdown.” Understanding these terms is crucial for our community’s safety.
**Secure the Perimeter**: This protocol is initiated when there is a potential threat outside the school, somewhere in the community; therefore, the message on Tuesday clearly stated that the incident was off campus. During this time, we ensure that all exterior doors are locked, and outdoor activities are paused. Students remain in their classrooms or designated safe areas until we can confirm that the situation is under control.
**Lockdown**: This procedure is activated when there is an imminent threat inside the school building. During a lockdown, all students and staff are directed to secure themselves in a classroom or safe area, turning off lights and remaining quiet. Communication will be limited until authorities determine it is safe to resume normal activities.
We regularly review and practice these procedures to ensure our students and staff are prepared. Your understanding and support are vital in maintaining a safe environment for everyone.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Warm regards,

The secure the perimeter was at Demopolis Middle School. I apologize for any confusion. We are all safe, happy, and learning.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
This morning/afternoon, out of an abundance of caution, we placed our school in a secured perimeter to ensure the safety of all students. Please rest assured that the issue was not on our campus, and it has been fully resolved.
Our students and staff remained safe at all times, and the school day will continue as normal. As always, the safety and well-being of your children are our top priorities.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

¡Mantenerse seguro!

Due to the threat of severe weather,
Thursday, September 12, 2024, will be an e-learning day for all students.
All campuses will be closed for the day.
Please stay safe, and remember to work on your assignments from home!

Due to the forecast of rain from Hurricane Francine, the DHS Homecoming Parade and Bonfire scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2024, has been cancelled.
The game is still on for Friday night! We would love for everyone to come out and support the Tigers! Thank you for understanding!
Go Tigers!

¡Usa tu camisa hawaiana o jeans y chaqueta!
¡Que tengas una gran tarde!

Also, as you are driving by our campus, please take a look at the stationary floats our teachers and students worked so hard on. We will have to move them tomorrow afternoon because of the rain that is heading our way.
Have a great evening!

Happy Friday, DMS Family!
We had a great second week of school. Thank you for following the new drop off procedures. Here are just a few reminders:
- If students are dropped off in the back to go to the gym, they are not to walk through the teacher parking lot. They should go to the grassy area at the end of the gym and follow the sidewalk to the steps that lead to the gym hallway.
- Any student dropped off after 7:35 should be dropped off in the CO parking lot.
- Please do not drive through the loop to drop students off in the back. That is for teachers only.
Teachers have posted the new code of conduct in their Clever page, so you may want to read over it; we should have hard copies soon. They have also posted reminders about the dress code.
Starting Monday, any student who has zero tardies to school at the end of the first quarter will get to attend a tardy party, so please remember that students are tardy to school after 7:45. I would love for all of our students to be able to attend.
Have a great weekend!
