DCS will be closed Sept. 2nd in observance of Labor Day. September 3rd will be a Data Day for Faculty and no school for students. Students will return to school Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024.

DMS Softball interest meeting is Aug 20!

Happy Friday, DMS Family! We had a great second week of school. Thank you for following the new drop off procedures. Here are just a few reminders: - If students are dropped off in the back to go to the gym, they are not to walk through the teacher parking lot. They should go to the grassy area at the end of the gym and follow the sidewalk to the steps that lead to the gym hallway. - Any student dropped off after 7:35 should be dropped off in the CO parking lot. - Please do not drive through the loop to drop students off in the back. That is for teachers only. Teachers have posted the new code of conduct in their Clever page, so you may want to read over it; we should have hard copies soon. They have also posted reminders about the dress code. Starting Monday, any student who has zero tardies to school at the end of the first quarter will get to attend a tardy party, so please remember that students are tardy to school after 7:45. DCS Families, Don't forget students at all four schools receive free breakfast and lunches through the Community Eligibility Program under the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program! Children need healthy meals to learn. CEP gives food service professionals more time to focus on preparing nutritious meals that their students will enjoy and gives students more time to eat those meals by cutting down on time spent in the lunch line. More importantly, by offering all students a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost, CEP helps ensure more students come to class well-nourished and ready to learn. Demopolis City Schools offers healthy meals every school day, so please encourage students to participate.

Update: The wiring issue is resolved and school is proceeding as normal. We want to make sure you are informed about any issues as quickly as possible. Your students' safety is our number one priority. We plan to have a great rest of the day!

Attention DMS parents: The Fire Department is on campus at DMS with a wiring situation. The situation is under control and there is no safety issue. We will update you as more information is available.

Hello DMS Family! Welcome to a new and exciting school year at Demopolis Middle School! As we approach the first day of school, I want to extend a warm welcome to all our returning families and a special greeting to those who are joining our school community for the first time. Our team has been working diligently over the summer to prepare for a fantastic year ahead. We are excited to welcome your child back to the classroom and look forward to supporting their academic and personal growth. Our goal is to create a positive, nurturing, and challenging environment where every student can thrive. Here are a few reminders for a successful first couple of days: - The drop off for all grade levels is now across the street in the central office parking lot. - Students are tardy after 7:45. - Students must be picked up by 3:30. - If you are interested in the after school tutoring program, registration forms are located online or in the front office. **Tutoring begins August 12 and is offered Monday-Wednesday from 2:50- 5:00. I will continue to share information the next few days and throughout the year, so be on the lookout for text messages and/or Facebook and website posts. Demopolis City Schools has some changes on the horizon. Tonight, at a special called board meeting, DCS board members approved a contract with Dr. Bobby Hathcock to serve as Interim Superintendent. Dr. Hathcock spoke, thanking the board for this opportunity. He assured those in attendance that his door is open, that he will put his heart into this role, and that he is excited to begin. The board also approved contracts for Brandi Smith to serve as the Westside Elementary School Principal, Elizabeth Fleming as U.S. Jones Elementary School Principal, and Allene Jones as Demopolis Middle School Principal, effective August 1, 2024. With these changes, we are confident that the faculty and staff in this system are committed to our students and making this the best year yet. DHS Tiger Football is hosting a Youth Football Camp June 10-11, 2024 from 6-7:15 pm. Admission is free. The camp will be held at the DMS Football Field. Players will be required to bring an authorization form with them in order to participate.
