It's roasted corn day at USJ...Also known as one of our favorite days! Thank you to the Child Nutrition Program and Dady's corn for hosting!! Hopefully a student who thought they wouldn't like it has changed their mind!! 🌽
Fourth grade students in Mrs.Dansby's and Mrs.Sims' math classes extended their classroom learning to the real world by using a tape measure and partial products to find the area of sidewalk rectangles. Students used measuring tape to measure the area of a square. After they found their measurements, they had to multiply those two 2-digit numbers using an area model. Thank you Mrs. Pittman and Mrs. Byrd, from AMSTI, for helping with the lesson. #amsti4all
County Commissioner Freddie Armstead Jr. from District 1, donated $500.00 to U. S. Jones to use for children who may be in need of necessities and may be less fortunate than others. We really appreciate you Mr. Armstead!

During Library class, Ms. Davis' students listened to the book "Biscuit Goes to the Pumpkin Patch" and then visited the USJ Pumpkin Patch! They picked the perfect pumpkin and turned them into jack-o-lanterns 🎃
Teachers at USJ participated in Instructional Rounds. This is a collaborative process through which teachers and school leaders can develop a shared understanding of what high-quality instruction looks like and what schools need to do to support it. It combines three common elements: classroom observations, improvement strategies and a network of educators.
Students will be dismissed at 11:30 on this Thursday, October 19th. We hope parents can make it to the Literacy and STEM event!
A DCS teacher caught these students doing a good deed! Thank you for posting,
Mrs. Lindsay!
